Prepare for power outages with solar battery backup

Power outages and natural disasters are no match for solar systems with a backup battery power supply.

House protected in storm

Scorching heat waves. Prolonged droughts. Fierce storms. Extreme weather events are escalating in frequency and intensity due to climate change. While the effects are more noticeable in some regions than others, this global phenomenon has touched every inch of the planet.

NASA research shows that the last 10 years have been the warmest on record. NOAA found that in 2023, 28 weather and climate disasters caused a total of $92.9 billion in damage in the United States.

Climate change is a big beast to tackle, but there are ways we can offset its effects. Using solar power with battery backup not only preserves the environment, but also provides your home with a reliable power supply, even during outages caused by storms.

Benefits of a backup power supply

Continuous power

Solar batteries deliver uninterrupted electricity during power outages. A battery storage system will detect outages and automatically transition to your stored solar, so your power supply never falters.

Maintain essential home functions

Natural disasters often knock out your electricity, leaving you without a working fridge, washing machine, or way to charge your phone. Solar battery storage makes your home less vulnerable to power outages, keeping your life running smoothly.

This stability is especially crucial when extreme weather rolls in, and you need a longer-lasting supply of refrigerated food, a functional water pump, and control over your home's temperature. With solar battery backup, you can customize how its power supply is distributed. Direct the energy to the appliances your home needs most.

Rely less on the grid

Climate change is testing the resilience of the utility grid, and it’s not proving itself trustworthy. When you have solar power, you don’t have to rely solely on a fragile, outdated energy source. Get solar panels, and make the sun your primary supply of energy. Further protect your home with battery storage. This power-packed pairing makes your energy costs more predictable and carbon footprint smaller.

Greater self-sufficiency during emergencies

During a power outage, you’re at the mercy of the elements and the utility company. The repair might take hours or even days. By having a backup solar supply in battery storage, you’ll have electricity even when utility power is down.

How solar backup batteries work

Sunlight is absorbed by solar panels. An inverter converts it into usable energy for your home’s immediate needs. If you have a battery storage, this is used to store excess solar energy. Once your battery or batteries are fully charged, any extra energy flows into the grid in exchange for credits on your utility bill. You can count on your battery storage to supply your home with reliable solar power at night or if there’s an outage. When the sun is shining, your battery storage recharges. Fortify your home

Adding battery backup to your solar system gives you a reliable power supply during disasters. And it allows you to continue using clean solar energy even during power outages.

How many batteries do I need?

The amount of energy you use will help us determine how many batteries you need. If you only want to power a few essential items during an outage, you may only need one or two batteries, which will keep costs lower.

Let’s connect

Trinity can help you create a plan for powering your home with solar energy, on both sunny and not-so-sunny days. During an in-home consultation, we’ll look at your roof to make sure it qualifies for solar, chat about battery backup, and share pricing and payment options.

What our customers are saying

“During the most recent outage, the transition to backup power was so seamless we didn’t even know an outage had occurred. I can’t speak highly enough about the quality of service provided to us by Trinity Solar. We feel secure.” - Helen, New Jersey

“Got my roof, solar and battery done by Trinity Solar. It's great because everything comes with a 25-year warranty including my roof.  Plus, with the batteries I don't have to ever worry about power outages which we are prone to with the threat of hurricanes.” - B.B., Florida

The amount of power available from the battery storage during a power outage is limited, depending on the loads connected, customer usage and battery configuration (i.e. batteries in certain areas may be set up to provide you with the best economic benefit, which may affect the amount of back-up power available). Solar systems and/or batteries may require repairs after weather events and such repairs may be delayed due to forces outside of our control. No assurances can be given that the solar system or the battery/batteries will always work. You should never rely upon either of these to power life support or other medical devices.
