MA solar tax credits & incentives
MA solar tax credits & incentives

When you install solar in Massachusetts, you may qualify for these cost savings:

  • Federal tax credit for 30% of the cost. You’ll get this credit if you buy your system or get a loan (not lease). This credit is available through 2032.
  • Residential energy credit of up to $1000 toward your state income tax bill.
  • MA property tax exemption. Solar panels can raise your property value and taxes. Get 100% exemption from added property tax for 20 years if system capacity is lower than 25kW.
  • Sales tax exemption. Solar energy systems are exempt from MA sales and use tax.
  • Net metering. Get a monthly credit for extra energy generated by your solar panels. Cash in these credits to reduce your utility bill.
Trinity does not guarantee eligibility for, or the amount of, tax credits, tax exemptions, renewable energy credits, or other state and federal incentive programs. Homeowners should consult a tax professional for personalized advice and to determine their specific eligibility for any tax incentives.
Clean energy goals
